Extraterrestrial and theatrical figures emerge slowly through the canvas never quite revealing or concealing to the viewer what emotion they convey.

The distorted limbs manufacture a sense of disorientation as to where one begins and one ends. The reoccurring objects that surround each image evoke a feeling of comfort and safety yet still elude to an overall unease.

“These abstract works emphasise this sort of delusion, a painting full of symbolic avoidance. In certain images this is more directly linked to obvious world issues; such as the climate crisis (see Image 2 in ‘Gallery’). In others, it’s more of a personal narrative of avoidance.”

The creatures themselves find safety in their mundane solitude; a behind the scenes glimpse at how we hold ourselves when hiding from the pressure of life that surrounds us, ignoring them at our own peril.
